Kangaroo Island & Southern Fleurieu

We’ve wrapped these two locales together as the Southern Fleurieu is the stepping stone to Kangaroo Island so you are likely to be tempted to explore them side-by-side. The island is still in recovery mode from bushfires but there’s a lot happening already. New shoots are growing fast, buoyed by determined locals driving a recovery and a growing awareness of just how special the island is to visit. This is a fun place to visit and one of the most personable, laid back cellar door experiences on offer in South Australia. Partners in wine and life Charlotte Hardy (Charlotte Dalton) and Ben Cooke (Cooke Brothers) have paired their winemaking and cellar door operations up in this small lounge-like tasting experience that is set among a suite of galleries, artisans and food vendors in the back streets of Port Elliot. You can chat as much or as little as you like here and there’s a lot of knowledge to be shared. These producers both source much of their grapes from the Adelaide Hills where they lived and worked for some time but they were drawn to the southern coast for the very same reasons you are likely to be there yourself. It’s a great place to explore.
