Open daily, the Farm Shed offers tastings and sales of wines from every wine producer on Tasmania’s east coast – including many that do not have their own cellar doors. There are several wines in Enomatic machines so you can have a taste before you commit, plus there are flights of Tasmanian whiskies and gins on offer. The experienced team of Subi Mead and Helen Bain, once of Swansea’s Left Bank, pour the wines and tell the story of the vineyard in question. Sit inside or enjoy the benches outside on a sunny day. Or book for one of the regular wine dinners. Featured smaller East Coast vineyards include Darlington, Hurly Burly, Boomer Creek, Lisdillon and Kelvedon, along with more familiar names like Spring Vale, Gala Estate, Craigie Knowe and Apsley Gorge. The multi-use building was inspired by an old farm shed. Molto is the latest venture for the Lubiana family: fifth-generation winemaker Steve, wife Monique and their son, Marco. Molto’s wine selection is based on the family’s own passion for organic, biodynamic and artisan wines from around the world. It’s a hybrid wine shop, where customers can pair small bites of food along with a glass or bottle of wine from one of Tasmania’s most intriguing wine lists, featuring small producers and rare imports. Perhaps a grenache blanc or pinotage from South Africa; or a small-batch Grand Cru from Burgundy. The vibe is centred on quality. Think after-work drinks, or a pre-dinner tipple from local stars including Freycinet Vineyard, Tolpuddle, Stargazer, Mewstone or Anim, or a mainland classic from Cullen or Castagna.  Winsor Dobbin

GO FOR: Sample one of owner Ricky Evans’ latest releases

Tamar Valley winemaker Ricky Evans is a glutton for punishment. Not only does the former Bay of Fires winemaker operate his own Two Tonne Tasmania Wines business, he also runs a hip little wine bar in downtown Launceston. This is a busy, buzzy space where you can sit either at the bar or a table and sample a constantly changing list of wines by the glass including Hughes & Hughes and Small Island Wines – plus many more by the bottle – featuring names like Chatto, Timo Mayer, and Ravensworth along with worthy imports from sustainable producers in Europe. The food is simple but delicious: a range of domestic and imported cheeses; some excellent charcuterie sliced on a unique pink machine, and some hot dishes like rock cod with tomato and fennel and saffron aioli, or maybe St Helens oysters from the coast.
